Allegiant Travel Company Serving Under-Served Cities

Here’s a company that’s focusing on service from a different angle. In essence, Allegiant Travel Company provides travel services and products to residents of under-served cities in the United States. The Company concentrates on linking travelers in small cities to premier leisure destinations.

Allegiant Travel Company is the parent company of Allegiant Air and Allegiant Vacations. Allegiant Travel has grown to greater than 80 aircraft and in excess of 300 routes throughout the United States. It has base airfares less than half the cost of the average domestic roundtrip ticket. Established in 1997, Allegiant Travel Company has its corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Company offers all-jet passenger service from the U.S.’s favorite small cities to first-rate destinations. Allegiant does not fly to every city, which differentiates them somewhat in the travel marketplace. While the Company does fly from a few large airports, it chiefly flies from smaller regional airports. In addition, Allegiant flies only on days when most people desire to fly. Notable is that its customers only pay for the services they choose to use.

The Company’s Allegiant Air provides non-stop service from regional cities to major destinations in the U.S. This includes Las Vegas, Nevada; Phoenix, Arizona; Hawaii and preferred Florida locations. Some of its routes operate on a seasonal basis. Allegiant waives baggage fees for military personnel who are on active duty.

Regarding myAllegiant™ Rewards, there are no blackout dates or locations on redemptions. A customer’s myAllegiant™ points can be used on any flight, hotel stay, car rental, and/or destination attraction booked via This includes taxes as well as fees.

Allegiant Travel Company is certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as a “Scheduled Air Carrier”. The Company has authority to fly scheduled and charter airline operations across the United States. Moreover, Allegiant has the authority for charter service to Canada and Mexico.

Concerning Allegiant’s Charter service, all of its aircraft are configured in an all-economy class layout featuring leather seats. Also, each Allegiant charter is staffed by a charter service representative. This representative serves as a direct Allegiant contact for a customer. The representative will coordinate day-of travel arrangements. This includes security screening, ground handling, as well as catering.

In early September 2016, Allegiant Travel Company reported preliminary passenger traffic results for August 2016. Pertaining to its Total System (includes scheduled service and fixed fee contract), Passengers for August totaled 934,080. This represents a 14.3% increase over August 2015’s 816,925. Revenue Passenger Miles (000) was 845,972 for August, versus 757,478 for August of the prior year. This represents an 11.7% increase. Available Seat Miles (000) was 1,006,059. This represents a 13.0% increase over 890,296 in 2015.

Mr. Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Senior Vice President (SVP) of Planning, said recently, “We expect this trend to continue into September. As such, we are now expecting our third quarter, year-over-year TRASM to decline between 8.5 and 7.5 percent versus our previous guidance of a decline between 10.5 and 8.5 percent.” TRASM is Total Revenue per Available Seat Mile.

Mr. Bricker was appointed COO in January of this year. He now oversees all facets of the Company’s flight operations, maintenance and safety, in addition to network planning, revenue management, and fleet planning.

Earlier this month, Allegiant Travel Company and Bank of America announced a new relationship to launch the Allegiant World MasterCard® issued by Bank of America.
