Established in 1981, Papa Murphy’s Holdings, Inc., with its subsidiaries, owns, operates, and franchises Take ‘N’ Bake pizza stores. The Company is a high-growth franchisor and operator of the largest Take ‘N’ Bake pizza chain in the U.S. It sells uncooked (scratch-made), fresh, hand-crafted pizzas, which its customers then bake at home. Papa Murphy’s Holdings is headquartered in Vancouver, Washington.
In 1981, the Company opened its first outlet in Hillsboro, OR. This was under the Papa Aldo’s moniker. In 1983, its first franchise location launched in McMinnville, OR. In 1995, Papa Aldo’s and Murphy’s Pizza merged, thus creating Papa Murphy’s.
The Company presently operates more than 1,570 franchised and corporate-owned fresh pizza stores in 38 States, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Papa Murphy’s Holdings, Inc. became a publicly-traded company on May 1, 2014. In 2015, it opened its 1,500th store. The Company offers franchise opportunities for qualified franchisees. In Q3 2016, Papa Murphy’s Holdings opened 26 new stores, including 24 in the U.S., versus 23 new store openings in the U.S. in Q3 2015.
Papa Murphy’s Holdings also offers a growing menu of Grab ‘N’ Go items. These include garden salads, sides and desserts. The Company’s Signature menu includes Murphy’s Combo; Cowboy; Hawaiian; Chicken Garlic; Papa’s All Meat, and Pepperoni. The Gourmet Delite menu includes Herb Chicken Mediterranean; Angus Steak & Roasted Garlic; Chicken Bacon Artichoke; Gourmet Vegetarian, and Spicy Fennel Sausage.
Papa Murphy’s Stuffed offerings include Big Murphy’s Stuffed™; 5-Meat Stuffed™; Chicago-Style Stuffed™, and Chicken Bacon Stuffed™. The Company also has a C.Y.O (Create Your Own) pizza option. The Sides & Sweets menu includes Cinnamon Wheel; Scratch-Made 5 Cheese Bread; Mini Murph® Cheese; Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough; S’Mores Pizza, and Mini Murph® Pepperoni, as well as 2 Liter Pepsi®.
In addition, Papa Murphy’s offers $5 Faves®. These include Garden (Romaine, Green Peppers, Tomatoes, Olives, Topping Cheese, Ranch Dressing); Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough; Cheese Faves®; Pepperoni Faves®; Sausage Faves®; and Scratch-Made 5 Cheese Bread. Regarding the chicken Papa Murphy’s uses, 100 percent of it is raised without antibiotics.
Papa Murphy’s outlets do not have freezers. The stores make dough from scratch, grate 100 percent whole-milk mozzarella daily, as well as hand slice the vegetables. Papa Murphy’s has received the Consumers’ Choice Award – 2015, 2016 – Technomic.
For Q3 2016, the Company’s revenue grew by 1.4 percent to 28.5 million. To date in 2016, as of November 2nd, Papa Murphy’s Holdings has opened 81 stores system wide. This includes 77 stores in the United States. This represents a 25 percent increase in new store openings versus the first three quarters of the year prior. Of the 81 openings in 2016, 51 stores were opened by franchisees.
